The UCS Academic and Administrative Affairs committee worked during the Spring 2015 semester to produce the following documents, aimed at helping first- and second-year students navigate Brown's advising resources as they make key decisions about their academic and co-curricular experience at Brown.
Declaring Your Concentration
Pre-Concentration Advising Roadmap - This map guides freshmen and sophomores through the declaration process and points you toward various advising resources that can help!
Pre-Concentration Advisors List - This document lists the right faculty and staff in every concentration for freshmen and sophomores considering that concentration to talk to! Updated April 2016.
While many of these advisors are also listed on Focal Point and department websites, they are often not listed by track, nor all together in one spot. We created this list to be a one-stop-shop for underclassmen considering multiple concentrations to easily decipher who they should go speak to in each one.
Academic and Co-Curricular Advising
Advising Resources Roadmap - This map guides students through the many resources at Brown designed to help underclassmen navigate academic and co-curricular decisions, including how to:
- Change your faculty advisor
- Access more peer advising
- Start thinking about study abroad options
- Consider fellowship and research opportunities
- Search for jobs and internships
