Management Board Roles and Descriptions

Appointed Positions

Alumni Relations Director 

  • Maintain alumni database for UCS membership and build alumni network with current UCS members, social events, and community building

  • Help Chief of Staff coordinate outreach to potential alumni partners for UCS initiatives

  • Spearhead the annual UCS alumni reception 

  • Work with BrownConnect and CareerLAB to create greater networking and alumni relations opportunities for UCS and student body at large

  • Create alumni highlight stories with where they are now for monthly UCS newsletter

  • Serve on UCS Management Board and support internal functions of the council  

Historian

  • Document current UCS initiatives and manage historical database of UCS initiatives

  • Partner with the UCS webmaster to update current and historical initiatives on the website 

  • Create media documenting UCS work (i.e. photography, videos, etc.) as necessary

  • Serve on UCS Management Board and support internal functions of the council  

Parliamentarian

  • Ensure procedures followed in general body are consistent with the procedures set in the UCS Constitution

  • Periodically review UCS code and recommend updates or changes 

  • Serve on UCS Management Board and support internal functions of the council  

Secretary

  • Maintain general body meeting minutes 

  • Check UCS email at least once a day and forward emails as necessary

  • Track and review attendance and email voting members as necessary

  • Serve on UCS Management Board and support internal functions of the council  

Webmaster

  • Work closely with the executive board to keep UCS (squarespace) website and sections up-to-date 

  • Take photos at UCS events/meetings as appropriate 

  • Coordinate with communications chairs on publicity campaigns 

  • Serve on UCS Management Board and support internal functions of the council  

Internally Elected Positions

UCS/UFB Liaison 

  • Attend both UCS general body and UFB meetings to relay information pertinent to both groups

    • Provide regular updates between UCS & UFB

  • Work closely with the UCS executive and management boards to support broader UCS initiatives 

  • Serve as a representative on UFB 

    • UFB Meetings - Tuesday/Thursday 7-9pm

** This position will be internally elected at the UCS General Body meeting on Wednesday, September 25th at 7pm in Petteruti Lounge.

External First Year Elections

First Year Rep

  • Serve as a liaison between first year class and general UCS body by representing first year opinions and increasing first year involvement with student government

  • Lead first year community events and projects (i.e. community forums, create communication channels, etc.) for first years at least once a semester to address any first year concerns 

  • Work closely with UCS Executive Board and Management Board

  • Host UCS first year bonding events at least once a semester

** This position will be externally elected by the first year class. Voting will take place from Tuesday, September 17th at 12pm to Thursday, September 19th at 12pm via an online poll.
